Obama
By Thinking man | August 31, 2008
My grandmother was a typical white person (Barack Obama, 2008).
Obviously, one needn’t look long or hard these days to see just how far America has come from her philosophical roots, and yet it’s frankly difficult to imagine a greater perverter of America’s philosophy than Mr. Barack Obama.
The foundational premise of America is stated in no uncertain terms in the Declaration of Independence: each person, by virtue of being human, possesses the inalienable right to her own life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
Everything that’s made America great is merely an elaboration upon that underlying premise.
The United States is the only country in world history founded explicitly and principally upon the concept of individual rights.
At root, there’s only one right: the right to your own life. The right to private property is the fundamental implementation of that right.
Thus rights form a perfect unity: your rights, my rights, everyone’s rights stop where another’s begin.
One must never forget that property –– including money –– is nothing more, or less, than an extension of person. Indeed, the penultimate draft of the Declaration of Independence read “… the right to life, liberty, and property,” following John Locke’s original formulation.
The inalienable right to your own person is what makes America politically free; the inalienable right to property is what makes America economically capitalistic.
Socialism is the political philosophy that advocates state or communal ownership of property.
An ideology is socialist to the extent that it espouses communalizing or nationalizing private property.
Barack Obama’s politics are purely socialistic. (He doesn’t deny this, as we shall also see in a second.)
To Barack Obama, what you earn and what you own are not inalienably yours.
Make no mistake: his politics are not “like socialism.”
He does not merely “favor some social programs.”
His economics are not “somewhat socialistic.”
He explicitly advocates equalizing incomes and nationalizing industry, such as healthcare and fossil fuel.
Quoting Obama’s autobiography Dreams From My Father – A Story of Race and Inheritance:
“To avoid being mistaken for a sellout, I chose my friends carefully. The more politically active black students. The foreign students. The Chicanos. The Marxist Professors and structural feminists and punk-rock performance poets” (pg. 100).
Later:
“Questions of competition, decisions forced by a market economy and majoritarian rule; issues of power. It was this unyielding reality – that whites were not only phantoms to be expunged from our dreams but were an active and varied fact of our everyday lives – that finally explained how nationalism could thrive as an emotion and flounder as a program” (pg. 202).
Barack Obama’s father, Barack Senior, a man whom Junior in his books makes clear that he admires for that man’s so-called political acumen, in an now-infamous paper said, among many other things:
“There is no limit to taxation if the benefits derived from public services by society measure up to the cost in taxation which they have to pay.”
And:
“Theoretically, there is nothing that can stop the government from taxing 100% of income so long as the people get benefits from the government commensurate with their income which is taxed.”
You may likewise recall that in January of this year, Obama’s campaign workers were lambasted for displaying flags of the communist pig Che Guevara.
It turns out it wasn’t just his staff with socialist ties:
Obama is an open associate of a Chicago-based Marxist group, which “has access to millions of labor union dollars and connections to expert political consultants, including a convicted swindler.”
Quoting further from the Accuracy in Media website:
“Obama’s socialist backing goes back at least to 1996, when he received the endorsement of the Chicago branch of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) for an Illinois state senate seat. Later, the Chicago DSA newsletter reported that Obama, as a state senator, showed up to eulogize Saul Mendelson, one of the ‘champions’ of ‘Chicago’s democratic left’ and a long-time socialist activist. Obama’s stint as a ‘community organizer’ in Chicago has gotten some attention, but his relationship with the DSA, who groomed and backed him, has been generally ignored.”
An actual video clip, entitled “Barack and Bernie Address Overflow Crowd,” shows Obama campaigning for openly socialist Senator Bernie Sanders.
It’s important to note that what motivates socialism primarily is a preposterous idea they call egalitarianism.
Egalitarianism means equalization.
It means that the legitimate functions of government extend to such acts as keeping people relatively equal – a task that requires massive government intervention — despite the fact that people posses varying degrees of ability, intelligence, and, most of all, ambition.
Conversely, in defense of the live-and-let-live nature inherent to individual rights, Thomas Jefferson wrote that “The legitimate functions of government extend only to such acts as are injurious to others,” which refers to a prohibition against the initiation of physical force, direct or indirect, and does not include equalizing incomes.
To Barack Obama, if you start a successful business, or if you win the lottery, or if you become a rich actress, or if you become a high-income athlete, or anything else like this –– the government may lawfully step in and expropriate your money and redistribute it to those who aren’t as successful as you.
That’s socialism.
Whatever flaws and contradictions the United States Constitution contains, it’s logically impossible to construct a rational argument defending socialism as Constitutional. In fact, socialism is provably antithetical to the foundational principles of this country –– specifically, in the premise of inalienable private property and the inalienable right to life.
On August 1st, 2008, Obama publicly announced what he calls his “Emergency Economic Plan.”
Among many other things, this plan would give families a stimulus check of $1,000 each. Where does all this money come from?
In part from what he calls “windfall profits from Big Oil,” the owners of which he may plunder at his will.
“You could use the rebate,” Obama says, “for any of your other bills, or even to pay down debt.”
Get that straight: you rack up debt, Obama plunders from Big Oil, gives their money to you, and everything is copasetic. It’s quite a remarkable system.
The money earned by the ingenuity, freedom, hard work, and the capital it all creates can simply be taken away and redistributed. It’s not, after all, as if we live in a free country where the money you earn is really yours.
There’s also, of course, Obama’s overt racism, captured repeatedly, in his own words, in the previously mentioned autobiography (you may read many more such quotes at KHOW’s website –– where you will also see incontrovertible proof, once again in Obama’s own words, that he lied about his knowledge of his pastor Jeremiah Wright and that man’s despicable ideology):
“I ceased to advertise my [white] mother’s race at the age of twelve or thirteen when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites” (p. xiv).
“That’s just how white folks will do you. It wasn’t merely the cruelty involved; I was learning that black people could be mean and then some. It was a particular brand of arrogance, an obtuseness in otherwise sane people that brought forth our bitter laughter. It was as if whites didn’t know that they were being cruel in the first place. Or at least thought you deserving of their scorn” (pg. 80).
“To that white world, I had been willing to cede the values of my childhood, as if those values were irreversibly soiled by the endless falsehoods that white spoke about black” (pg. 110).
“If nationalism could create a strong and effective insularity, deliver on its promise of self-respect, then the hurt it might cause well-meaning whites, or the inner turmoil it caused people like me, would be of little consequence” (pg. 201).
If you think these quotes are not damning, ask yourself this:
Why did Barack Obama leave them out of the audio version of his book, for which he himself did all the reading?
The biggest problem here is that so many voters don’t know what socialism is –– or, for that matter, capitalism. People are therefore unaware of exactly what’s at stake with this neo-Marxist named Barack Obama, and unaware also of what jumping on the Obama bandwagon means precisely: the horrifying ramifications of a socialist president.
“I have become a symbol of the possibility of America returning to our best traditions,” Obama said recently.
That sickening remark discloses in full how deep Obama’s ignorance runs concerning America’s real philosophical roots –– John Locke’s Second Treatise in particular, which repeatedly calls for private property rights, and the inalienable right to your own life.
Now it doesn’t matter how “progressive” it feels, or how much “change” you think this country needs (and on that we can agree); neither does it matter how good it feels to support a minority for President: reader, if you vote for Barack Obama, you thereby help usher in a whole new level of authoritarianism and statism in this country.
It will indeed be a change –– one that cannot be so easily legislated away.
